Psychology-Informed Support for Families Navigating Dementia
Dementia changes more than memory. It can reshape family roles, relationships, communication, identity, work and everyday life.
And while much of dementia care understandably focuses on the person living with the diagnosis, the psychological wellbeing of the person providing the care matters too.
Anchor Dementia Care focuses on that wider family reality.
We help family caregivers navigate the emotional, relational and practical pressures of dementia while protecting their own wellbeing, identity and ability to continue living their lives alongside caregiving.
Our Approach
Our work focuses on three interconnected areas:
Caregiver Mental Health & Wellbeing
Understanding the psychological impact of prolonged caregiving, including stress, emotional overload, changing roles, isolation and loss of identity. We help caregivers recognise what is happening to them psychologically and develop more sustainable ways of responding to the demands of care.
Family Relationships & Communication
Dementia can change long-established family dynamics and introduce difficult decisions, new responsibilities and unfamiliar patterns of communication. We help families navigate changing roles, boundaries, expectations and conversations with greater clarity, understanding and less unnecessary conflict.
Personhood, Autonomy & Behaviour
A behaviour that looks difficult on the surface may be communicating discomfort, fear, unmet needs or a need for control. We help caregivers look beyond the behaviour to understand what the person may be experiencing, while keeping their identity, dignity, autonomy and meaningful participation at the centre of care.
Care For Them Without Losing Yourself
The CLEAR Path™ Programme
A 12-Week Structured Programme for Family Caregivers Navigating Dementia
A structured, non-clinical programme for caregivers carrying significant emotional, relational and practical responsibility.
The CLEAR Path™ helps caregivers develop greater clarity, strengthen emotional wellbeing, navigate family relationships and responsibilities, and build a more sustainable approach to caregiving —without losing connection to their own identity and life.
Why Anchor Dementia Care?
Dementia care is not only about managing a diagnosis.
It is also about navigating what happens to the people, relationships and roles surrounding that diagnosis.
Anchor brings together psychology, dementia-care knowledge and a family-centred perspective to help caregivers understand what may be happening, identify what needs attention and develop more sustainable ways of responding.
We are deliberately non-clinical. Our work complements medical, psychological and care services through education, structured reflection and personalised advisory support. Supporting the caregiver is part of sustainable, person-centred dementia care.
About Kaysha
Anchor Dementia Care was founded by Kaysha Ubrani, MSc Psychology (Distinction), with postgraduate training in Dementia Care and Research Studies.
Kaysha's academic and professional interests sit at the intersection of psychology, ageing, dementia, family caregiving and psychosocial wellbeing. Her developing research interests focus particularly on communication, personhood and the psychological experience of family caregiving.
Her MSc research examined smartphone use and the experiences of women aged 60–80 in Kuala Lumpur using a mixed-methods approach, exploring digital engagement, independence, social connection and wellbeing.
Through Anchor, Kaysha aims to translate psychological and dementia-care knowledge into practical, accessible support for families, while continuing to develop the research and evidence behind psychologically informed dementia care.
